Equipment for testing recycled plastics
Plastic recycling is the processing of plastic waste into other products. Almost all plastic recycling is mechanical by melting and reforming plastic into other items. This can cause polymer degradation at the molecular level and requires the waste to be sorted by colour and polymer type before processing, which is complicated and expensive.
Through material analysis and other testing of recycled plastic, it is ensured, among other things, that the right material has been delivered, what kind of plastic is in the recycled material, what the plastic contains, and the plastic's melting point.
Elastocon offers different types of equipment for testing recycled plastics. Material analysis instruments like the differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and the thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Tensile testers, melt index and impact testers for plastics are other types of equipment.
Plastic quality assurance instrument, identiPol QA2
IdentiPol QA2 is designed to provide unskilled polymer manufacturing and processing staff with a simple tool to assess the quality and identity of mouldable thermoplastics.
The system provides a quick assessment of incoming material and its suitability for use on the production line, by an automated comparison of new batches of material against known good batches, which have previously been tested. A test takes about 15 minutes.

Melt flow indexer, MP1200
Tinius Olsen's melt flow indexer model MP1200 is used for determination of the melt mass-flow rate (MFR) and melt volume-flow rate (MVR) of thermoplastics according to ASTM D1238, ISO 1133-1 & 2 and other international and industrial specifications.
The MP1200 is a superior, advanced, melt indexing system that is available in either manual or motorized configurations and features a new three-zone band heater with three controllers that result in unparalleled temperature control of the furnace.
Differential scanning calorimetry instrument, DSC 4000
Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) is a thermoanalytical technique in which the difference in the amount of heat required to increase the temperature of a sample and reference is measured as a function of temperature.
The DSC 4000 offers dependable performance and quality results. This single-furnace, heat flux DSC is designed to run all your routine applications and includes an easy-to-load vertical furnace that is resistant to oxygen and chemical corrosion.

Thermogravimetric analyzer, TGA 4000
The TGA 4000 is designed with a compact ceramic furnace, which provides the temperature control you need for accurate results. Its rugged design is also corrosion resistant for the applications flexibility you need today and tomorrow.
Thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) is a method of thermal analysis in which the mass of a sample is measured over time as the temperature changes.
