Shear adhesion failure tester, SAFT, ES 07-II

Elastocon's ahear adhesion failure tester (SAFT), ES 07-II, is used for testing heat-fail temperature in shear of hot melt adhesives, according to ASTM D4498.

The ES 07-II instrument determines the temperature at which specimens bonded with hot melt adhesive delaminate under static load in shear.

Weights are attached to the shear samples and the temperature is increased with a controlled rate until the samples fail. The ES 07-II can test 6 samples simultaneously and have a timer for each test station that records the time to failure. This system has an improved sensor system for detecting the sample failure which works with small loads down to 100 g.
