Micro-compounder Xplore MC 40 – for high-volume and continuous compounding

The Xplore MC 40 is a high-torque laboratory micro-compounder designed for larger-volume material development in both batch and continuous processing. It delivers reliable performance, efficient operation and stable processing, with a melt torque of 40 Nm across the full rpm range.

Robust construction, reliable operation and precise process control

The MC 40 combines robust construction, reliable operation and precise process control in a compact system that fits on a laboratory bench or inside a fume hood.

Its 40 ml batch capacity enables greater flexibility for material screening and sample preparation, while supporting continuous operation for process-oriented R&D.

Effective mixing of high-viscosity polymer compounds

With a maximum melt torque of 40 Nm across the full rpm range, the system enables controlled shear rates and effective mixing of high-viscosity polymer compounds, supporting stable processing conditions and reproducible results.

With a screw torque of 40 Nm, processing rubbers and elastomers becomes effortless, even when using fully intermeshing screws.

This design delivers significantly more thorough mixing compared to the commonly used tangential screw mixers. Every cubic centimeter of material exhibits identical properties, ensuring unparalleled consistency.

In contrast, tangential screw designs often struggle to produce uniform samples, making consistency a persistent challenge.

Key features

  • High-quality fast results provide relevant rheological data.
  • Reliable, reproducible, repeatable. Two times three separate heating zones offer perfect control of the process temperature.
  • An abrasion and chemical resistant barrel that is fluid-tight generates reproducible processing and rheological data over many years.
  • Excellent mixing reduces the processing time and the machine is easy to clean, minimizing turnaround time between batches.
  • Sample volume is 40 ml and enables earlier testing and reduce screening costs.
  • Quick exchange of samples and screws to run different experiments in a short turnaround time frame.
  • Recirculation channel length, process time, mixing and dispersion parameters for different formulations and tests can be chosen at will.
